From City Stars to New Alamein and Beyond: Mousa Sons Projects

A selection of Mousa Sons projects in Egypt and abroad, grouped into residential, industrial, infrastructure and export work in Oman and Algeria, with what each category demands from a batching plant.

Mousa Sons projects stretch from City Stars in Nasr City to New Alamein Towers, from industrial zones and cement plants to infrastructure and development projects, and beyond Egypt to Oman and Algeria. Over more than 30 years the company has completed more than 100 projects for more than 50 clients. This article presents a selection grouped by type and explains what each category demands from a batching plant, because an urban residential project, a remote development site and a cement plant have very different needs.

Mousa Sons Projects in Residential, Commercial and Tourism Development

  • City Stars, Nasr City (1998–2000): 250-tonne cement silos and a mobile stockpiling conveyor.
  • Al Rehab (1998): two 250-tonne cement silos plus sand and aggregate screens.
  • Hacienda, North Coast (2004): complete batching plants, a full stockpiling conveyor system and water and diesel tanks.
  • Orascom Tourism projects (2006): four 250-tonne cement silos for the main plant and screens at Taba.
  • Marassi and New Alamein Towers – SIAC (2022): modern batching plants, including a 120 m³/h plant at New Alamein.

What these projects demand

This category is a major part of Egypt's construction activity, in established cities and in new communities on the North Coast and east of Cairo. Large urban and new-community developments need steady output over long periods, with intense peak days for slabs and foundations. Site space can constrain plant layout, stockpiles and truck movement, calling for careful capacity and storage planning and sometimes a custom concrete plant design. High-rise work demands very consistent mix quality.

Industrial Projects, Cement and Concrete Producers

  • Ain Sokhna industrial zone (1998–2000): four 250-tonne silos, two screens and a stockpiling conveyor system.
  • Petrojet (2002): four-bin batching hoppers, stockpiling conveyors and screens at several company sites.
  • Lafarge concrete plant (2004): two 150-tonne silos and two mobile stockpiling conveyors.
  • Minya, Beni Suef and Al Nahda cement plants (2008): 250-tonne cement storage silos.
  • Ready-mix producers (2014–2024): 120 m³/h plants for companies such as Unimix, Dar Mix, Falcon and Sinai Ready Mix.

What these projects demand

Clients in this category usually know the industry in detail. Industrial firms, major contractors and cement and concrete producers apply strict technical standards and documentation requirements. They judge a plant on weighing accuracy, operating stability, control quality and support response. Commercial plants running daily also need regular maintenance and available spare parts.

Infrastructure and Development

  • Nubaria Power (2002): a four-bin batching hopper, stockpiling conveyor and screen.
  • Toshka (2002): a complete batching plant with stockpiling and mixing equipment.
  • Mostakbal City opposite El Obour (2014): 23 four-bin batching hoppers, stockpiling conveyors and control rooms.
  • El Dabaa, Galala and El Melez Airport (2014): batching plants and stockpiling equipment, including equipment suited to Galala's mountain terrain.
  • Zagazig bridge (2020): a 120 m³/h plant with a Sicoma mixer for The Arab Contractors.
  • Japanese university, Borg El Arab (2024): a 120 m³/h batching plant.

What these projects demand

Large, continuous pours, precise specifications reviewed by consultants and documented quality records for every delivery. Remote sites add further needs: enough storage to cover longer supply lead times, with cement silos from 60 to 180 tonnes; high reliability; critical spares on site; a trained operating team; and a control system that logs every batch.

Projects Outside Egypt: Oman and Algeria

Our work extends beyond Egypt: in Oman (2006) we supplied and installed two mobile stockpiling conveyors and two aggregate screens for Orascom Tourism projects, and in Algeria (2008) we manufactured and shipped two complete batching plants for the Djelfa cement plant. In 2008 the company also began exporting to Libya and the Gulf. Export projects bring their own considerations:

  • Climate: from hot, dry Gulf conditions to cold inland winters, affecting component choice, water and cement protection and sealing of silos and control panels.
  • Shipping: plants are prepared to protect components in transit, with accurate packing lists for on-site inspection.
  • Remote installation: close coordination so foundations, utilities and cranes are ready before the team arrives.
  • After-sales: local operator training, adequate critical spares and good documentation become decisive.

What Project Diversity Has Taught Us

There is no one plant that suits everyone. A crowded urban site needs a space solution, a remote development needs reliability and stock, a cement or commercial concrete producer needs daily accuracy and stability, and an export project needs tighter planning for shipping, installation and support. That is why we always start by understanding the project before proposing a configuration.

How We Start Studying Your Project

  1. Define project type, duration and location.
  2. Estimate peak-day volume and mix types.
  3. Review site conditions, material sources and utilities.
  4. Propose plant type, capacity, storage and automation.
  5. Clarify supply and installation scope and each party's responsibilities.
